Solve the main puzzle in exactly the same way as Sudoku only this time with the letters A-I instead of numbers.
The Eijidoku Puzzle is split into 9 boxes each containing 9 letters. You have to fill in the 9 x 9 grid so that every row, every column and every 3 x 3 box contains the letters "A" through to "I" without any letter being repeated in any of the rows, columns or 3 x 3 boxes.
Once every square is filled with a letter, you now have to decipher a question which is represented by letters found in the shaded areas.
The shaded areas on the grid represent letters from a hidden question which are read from left to right, top to bottom and are represented in that order in the encoded question.
Firstly take the letters found in the shaded areas on the completed grid and place them in order onto the decoded question.
Using the Eijidoku Grid, cross reference each of the letters with the associated numeric code found below it. This will give a new letter from the complete alphabet. The new deciphered letters can then be filled in to complete the question which should become apparent assuming that the puzzle was completed correctly in the first instance.
Assuming the grid area contains these letters:
| F | E | |||||||
| G | D |
The corresponding numbers under the Encoded Clue may be:
| -3 | 10 | 11 | 0 |
Now complete the Encoded Clue with the letters found in the shaded areas from the completed puzzle:
| F | E | G | D |
| -3 | 10 | 11 | 0 |
Cross referencing the letters and associated numbers on the Eijidoku Grid would give the following results:
| F | minus 3 | = | C |
| E | plus 10 | = | O |
| G | plus 11 | = | R |
| D | plus 0 | = | D |
The word in the shaded area would now be 'CORD' which can be filled into the blank spaces for the question.
You should now have a question to answer. Fill in your answers at the bottom of the page in the spaces provided. The answers will be available when the next puzzle is released.
